Information you submit
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search widget is sent to the outside provider that supplies the result. Stratford Residents Directory does not keep a copy of that search on its own servers. If you contact us, we receive the content of your message and use it to respond or maintain the correspondence.
Routine technical logs
Hosting systems may record an IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. These ordinary logs help keep the service available and show broad page use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics or advertising measurement when those services are present.
How limited data is used
Technical data is used to operate the pages, investigate failures, understand aggregate traffic, and improve the reference. We do not sell a visitor list or build a personal profile of an individual reader from these logs.
Links and outside providers
Pages link to the Stratford Town Clerk, Vision, SOTS, courts, DPH, libraries, archives, and other outside services. Their privacy notices govern what is submitted on their systems. The sponsored search results are supplied by a third party and are not controlled by this reference.
Who may process technical data
Hosting and support providers may handle server logs while keeping the pages running. Analytics or advertising partners may receive the automatic information described above. Information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it; otherwise it is not shared as a visitor list.
Security practices
The site is delivered over an encrypted connection. Logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here and for as long as those purposes require. There are no user accounts, passwords, or personal profiles on this reference for an attacker to obtain.
Visitors under 18
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent us information, use the Contact page so the information can be reviewed and removed where appropriate.
Your Connecticut privacy rights
Connecticut's Data Privacy Act, Chapter 743jj, CGS §§42-515 through 42-526, describes rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of certain personal data, along with opt-outs for sale, targeted advertising, and specified profiling. A universal opt-out signal is required beginning January 1, 2025. The law has exemptions and does not control every public agency or record type.
Because this reference keeps little personal data, a request normally involves checking the contact mailbox and applicable technical logs. Use the Contact page to ask. Public records held by the Stratford Town Clerk, Assessor, courts, SOTS, DPH, or other agencies are outside our control; a request about those records belongs with the custodian.
Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act, CGS §§1-200 through 1-259, is a separate route for asking a public agency for non-exempt recorded data. It is not a deletion request to this private reference and does not override confidentiality statutes.
Changes to this policy
If the data practice or this notice changes, an updated version will be posted here. Continued use after the revised notice appears indicates acceptance of the change.
